6 Oct, 2025

Rivington Energy today announced the acquisition of three co-located solar & BESS projects totalling 139MW from leading charge point, solar & BESS operator GRIDSERVE. The acquisition comprises two Ready-to-Build (RTB) assets of 54MW and 44MW as well as a pre-RTB 41MW project. The projects are in Scunthorpe, Doncaster and Hartlepool respectively.

The first site to be built will be a 54MW solar farm coupled with 72 MWh of battery storage, in Scunthorpe.  Construction will commence in October this year and energisation is expected in September 2026.  Once fully energised the project will supply energy to the grid and industrial off takers.  It is anticipated all three projects will provide up to 160MWh of battery energy storage.

The Rivington Energy team have an extensive track record of delivering initiatives with positive environmental and social impacts, having successfully delivered over 1.25GW of consented renewable energy projects since 2021 and hundreds of MWs of operating renewable assets over the last decade.

Andrew Newman, Executive Director at Rivington Energy said: “Our team are passionate about pioneering innovative energy solutions to support the transition to net zero.  We are delighted to have collaborated closely with our parent company, Federated Hermes Limited, to acquire these projects, and we are excited to embark upon their construction.”
